MFL
Our vision at St. Alban’s for Foreign Languages is that all language learners develop the skills and confidence to consider themselves as ‘World Citizens’ who belong in a multicultural, mutually respectful world. We aim to support pupils to understand other countries and cultures so that they can be open and adaptable to new experiences and to help them develop skills that will open further opportunities later in life.
Our Italian lessons are designed and planned to contribute to a broad and balanced curriculum, in line with the whole school development plan. This will ensure that pupils develop lifelong linguistic skills that encourage them to become curious and interested in the world. Through the teaching of Italian, pupils develop their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills and learn to express themselves with increasing confidence, independence and creativity. Ultimately, we want our pupils to possess a love of languages, and we aim to achieve this by nurturing a linguistic curiosity and an intrinsic motivation to explore and respect other cultures and people.
